MHA transfers 3 senior IPS, Rakesh Asthana to be DG, BSF

As per a recent order dated August 17, the Appointments Committee of the cabinet nodded for the proposal to transfer three senior IPS officers by the Ministry of Home Affairs.


  1. Rakesh Asthana (1984-Batch IPS), presently serving as Director General (DG), Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) with an additional charge of DG, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has been posted as DG, Border Security Force (BSF). Asthana will continue to hold his additional charge of DG, NCB.

  2. VSK Kaumudi (1986-Batch IPS) has been newly appointed as Special Secretary (Internal Security), Ministry of Home Affairs. He is currently working as DG, Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D).

  3. Md Jawed Akhtar (1986-Batch IPS) has been allocated the charge of DG, Fire Services, Civil Defence and Home Guard. At present, Akhtar is serving as Special DG, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
