Tuhin Kanta Pandey

In the second major bureaucratic reshuffle by NDA-2, Tuhin Kumar Pandey, a 1987-batch IAS officer currently serving in his home cadre Odisha, has been appointed the new Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) secretary.

The present DIPAM secretary Anil Kumar Khachi has been repatriated back to his parent cadre “on personal ground with immediate effect,” as per reports. Khachi, a 1986-batch Himachal Pradesh IAS officer, was appointed DIPAM secretary in July this year.

Pandey will take over as the DIPAM secretary at a time when the centre is giving a second shot at privatizing Air India and the department is about to invite bids by the end of this month.

Pankaj Kumar, a 1987-batch IAS officer of Nagaland cadre has been appointed CEO, Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). Kumar is presently serving as Additional Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).

Sanjeev Nandan Sahai, a 1986-batch IAS officer of union territories cadre, presently serving as special secretary in the Ministry of Power has been appointed as the secretary in the ministry, on retirement of Subhash Chandra Garg.

Garg, who was serving as the finance secretary, was moved to the Power Ministry in July this year.

Sahai will take over his responsibilities at the Power Ministry in the middle of a financial crisis faced by distribution companies, leading to delayed payments to power generation utilities.

The Centre has also approved in-situ up-gradation of the posts of 13 IAS officers of 1987 batch.
