BS Yeddyurappa

B S Yeddyurappa will be sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Karnataka today. As per the letter sent to Govenor Vajubhai Vala, Yeddyurappa, who was the Chief Minister for three-times, will take oath in the state’s Raj Bhavan at 6 pm today.

The development comes three days after the JD(S)-Congress coalition government lost a trust vote on the floor of the state legislative Assembly.

The H D Kumaraswamy-led Congress-JD(S) government fell on Tuesday after it secured only 99 votes against the BJP’s 105 in the Karnataka Assembly. The vote was held after a series of resignations by JD(S) and Congress MLAs, who alleged lack of stability in the coalition.

The government had plunged into crisis in the beginning of this month after a series of resignations by JD(S) and Congress MLAs, who alleged lack of stability in the coalition. Around 13 of them moved the Supreme Court after the Karnataka Speaker refused to accept their resignations, which would have caused the government to fall.
