Karnataka IPS Transfers: Alok Kumar appointed as Bengaluru Police Commissioner

Amidst a major rejig of IPS officers in Karnataka, Alok Kumar has been appointed as the Police Commissioner of Bengaluru. Prior to this appointment, Kumar was the Additional Commissioner of Police, Crime.


Kumar has taken over the post from T Suneel Kumar (1989-Batch), the current Police Commissioner, who has been transferred as the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Recruitment.

Other IPS officers who have been transferred within this reshuffle include Amrit Paul, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Administration, who has now been transferred as the IGP Eastern Range, Davanagere.

BK Singh, IGP and ACP (West), Bengaluru, has been transferred and made IGP and Secretary to Government, Home Department (PCAS), Bengaluru.


Somendu Mukherjee has been transferred as IGP, Internal Security Division, Bengaluru. At present, Mukherjee is the IGP, Eastern Range, Davanagere.

Umesh Kumar, IGP Southern Range, Mysuru is now posted as Additional Commissioner for Bengaluru West zone.


Dr B R Ravikanthe Gowda, DIGP Fire Services is transferred as the  DIGP Crime, Bengaluru.
