Rajiv Gauba takes charge as Union Home Secretary

Senior IAS officer Rajiv Gauba has taken charge as the Union Home Secretary after incumbent Rajiv Mehrishi retired from service.
A 1982 batch officer of Jharkhand cadre, Gauba joined the Ministry of Home Affairs as Officer on Special Duty in June this year, the ministry said in an official statement.
He has held senior positions in the Central and State Governments. He has also held senior position in international organisations.
Gauba, who hails from Punjab, is a Physics graduate.
