The Central Government has appointed Durga Shanker Mishra, an IAS officer of 1984-batch of Uttar Pradesh, to be the next Secretary in Urban Development Ministry.

He was earlier posted there as Additional Secretary.

Mishra will take charge as Rajiv Gauba, the present Urban Development Secretary, is set to take over as the Union Home Secretary.


Arun Kumar Panda, an IAS officer of 1984-batch, Odisha, has been appointed as the Secretary, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. He was earlier posted as the Additional Secretary, Department of Health & Family Welfare.

Ajay Prakash Sawhney, an IAS officer of 1984-batch of the Andhra Pradesh cadre, has been appointed as the Secretary, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology. He is currently the Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.

Kerala cadre IAS officer Anand Kumar (1984-batch), has been appointed as the new Secretary in the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. He was Managing Director of National Highways Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited.

Bihar cadre IAS officer Deepak Kumar, (1984-batch) who is currently posted as the Director General, Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC ) has now been appointed as the Chairman, National Highways Authority of India. He is taking charge in place of Yudhvir Singh Malik, an IAS officer of Haryana cadre(1983-batch) who has now been appointed as the Secretary, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways.
