The state government in Haryana is going all out to improve its dismal sex ratio, among the worst in the country in the previous census, by adopting innovative means.
For this the state government launched an aggressive campaign, Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign that aims at discouraging female foeticide and infanticide and empowering the girl child with education. Now, Panipat has become the first district in the country to create online sex ratio monitoring dashboard under the ambitious programme.
This was revealed in a meeting that the Chief Minister, Manohar Lal had with his Good Governance Associates and Administrative Secretaries.
The dashboard on sex ratio monitoring has been developed in district Panipat in association with National Informatics Centre (NIC) as a pilot project.
Data collected from all villages by the Health and Women and Child Welfare Departments is being uploaded on the website on a monthly basis. Critical villages where more attention is required are being identified so that efforts may be stepped up accordingly, said an official communique. The dashboard is also proving to be an effective tool for enhancing ground-level coordination between the Health and Women and Child Welfare Departments.
