UP Transport Commissioner K Ravindra Naik, in a letter to all the
“We are going to launch mobile app based e-challan system, developed by the National Informatics Commission (NIC), to provide automatic location logging through GPS. The mobile app will fetch vehicle/driver details from Vahan-Sarathi database by entering DL and RC. Pilot run has successfully done in Lucknow and Noida,” said K Ravindra Naik.
Developed by NIC, Delhi, the e-challan system will be used by the enforcement officers of the Transport Department. “The NIC has developed a central database of the registration numbers and details of a vehicle under this project. The department has provided tablets to the enforcement officials including 114 Assistant Regional Transport Officers (ARTOs) and 102 Passenger Tax Officers (PTOs) across the State. Regional Transport Officer (RTOs) have already been provided with the tablets,” the Transport Commissioner added.
Under the system, when an official intercepts someone for violating any rule, he can feed the vehicle’s registration number, driving license and other details of the driver concerned in the system. Since the app will be connected with the database of the NIC server, which has details of most of the vehicles already, the official will see the old history of the vehicle.
The system will also show the different rules and the penalty for these violations which can be levied by the official concerned. After selecting the codes of the particular rule, the app will calculate the amount of the penalty and a slip will be generated by the thermal printer subsequently.
It is to be pointed out that this system has already been running in 12 states including Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, etc. The transport officials of these states will easily get to know the details of a vehicle owner travelling in these states.
Besides, a few schemes of Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) will also be launched by CM.
The Chief Minister will also inaugurate the Bus Stations of Etawah, Dataganj (Budaun District) and Sirsaganj (Firozabad District). He will also lay the foundation of Katghar Bus Station of Moradabad, Chandpur Bus Station of Bijnore, Depot workshop of Budaun, and Bus Station and Depot workshop of Mau.
