TRAI 1The government has asked the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) to seek information from telecom operators about their infrastructure and capacity for providing effective services.

According to report, the TRAI will soon ask telecom companies to disclose information related to their services. It would be publicised to help customers choose their service provider wisely.

TRAI is preparing a information paper which gives a detailed analysis of the extent of call drops especially in Delhi and Mumbai on the basis of available data.

Expressing serious concern over the issue of call drops, Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently asked officials to resolve the issue urgently.

The Prime Minister asked as to what steps were being taken to address this problem, which, he said, directly affects the common man.

He directed the officials to ensure that the problems in voice connectivity do not extend to data connectivity in the future.

He also directed officials to explore the possibility of leveraging existing resources, including railway and other communication infrastructure, to provide mobile connectivity in remote, unconnected areas.
