teleThe total telephone subscriber base in the country has reached 100.69 crore at the end of June, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) said.

The subscriber base stood at 100.20 crore at the end of May.

The urban subscription increased from 580.15 million at the end of May to 584.21 million at the end of June, and the rural subscription also increased from 421.90 million to 422.75 million during the same period.


The overall tele-density in India increased from 79.67 at the end of May to 79.98 at the end of June.

According to TRAI, The wireless tele-density has gone up from 77.58 at the end of May to 77.90 at the end of June.


As on 30th June, the private access service providers held 91.75% market share of the wireless subscribers whereas BSNL and MTNL, the two PSUs access service providers, held only 8.25% market share.

In June, ,a total of 3.68 million subscribers submitted their requests for mobile number portability (MNP).
