The Jammu and Kashmir Government has appointed senior bureaucrat B R Sharma as the new Chief Secretary of the State. The step was taken following Iqbal Khanday’s resignation.
Sharma is a 1984 batch IAS officer of J&K cadre, and has held various important positions in the state administration before being appointed to the top post. The decision to appoint him was taken by the cabinet which met under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister of the State, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
