In a major bureaucratic reshuffle, the Government has elevated 36 IAS officers to the rank of Additional Secretary and appointed to different departments. The new appointees include 18 IAS officers of 1985 batch. It may be recalled that another lot of 54 IAS officers of 1985 batch had recently been empanelled to be posted in the rank of Additional Secretary.

The following officers were shifted in the midnight reshuffle:

• Nikhilesh Jha, a 1984 batch IAS officer of Manipur-Tripura cadre, has been appointed as Mission Director in the National Water Mission. This post has been newly created.
• Preeti Madan, a 1981 batch IES officer, has been appointed as Secretary, National Commission for women. Currently, she is Joint Secretary in the Minority Affairs Ministry.
• R Subrahmanyam, a 1985 batch IAS officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre, has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Department of Higher Education. At present, he is Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Urban Development.
• Usha Sharma, a 1985 batch IAS officer of Rajasthan cadre, currently serving as Additional Director General in the Tourism Ministry, has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances.
• Surina Rajan, a 1985 batch Haryana cadre IAS, has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Department of Defence Production. He is currently Joint Secretary in the Department of Defence.
• J Rama Krishna Rao, a 1985 batch Bihar cadre IAS, has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Department of ex-servicemen welfare.
• Arun Kumar, a 1983 batch IAS officer of Assam cadre, has been appointed Additional Secretary in the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment. At present, he is Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Mines.
• Sunil Kumar Singh, a 1983 batch Bihar cadre IAS, has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Department of Agriculture Research and Education.
• Yogendra Tripathy, a 1985 batch Karnataka cadre IAS, has been appointed as CMD of Food Corporation of India (FCI). He is currently a Joint Secretary in the Department of School Education and Literacy.
• Bhagwat Prasad Pandey, a 1983 batch Uttarakhand cadre IAS, has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Power.
• Kumar Sanjay Krishna, a 1985 batch Assam cadre IAS, has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. Currently, he is Joint Secretary in the Department of Disinvestment.
• MM Kutty, a 1985 batch UT cadre IAS, has been promoted as Additional Secretary in the same Ministry- Environment and Forests.
• Upendra Prasad Singh, a 1985 batch Odisha cadre IAS, now a Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum, has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the same Ministry- Petroleum.
• Deepak Kumar, a 1984 batch Bihar cadre IAS, has been appointed as DG, Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC).
• Heera Lal Samariya, a 1985 batch Telangana cadre IAS, has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Labour and Employment. Currently, he is Joint Secretary in the Department of Fertilisers.
• Sailesh, a 1985 batch Assam cadre IAS, now Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the same Ministry – MHA.
• Sanjeev Ranjan, a 1985 batch Tripura cadre IAS, has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. Currently, he is Joint Secretary in the Department of Defence.
• JK Dadoo, a 1983 batch UT cadre IAS, has been appointed as Additional Secretary and Financial Advisor in the same Department – Commerce. He is, at present, Additional
• Secretary in the Department of Commerce.
• Sameer Sharma, a 1985 batch Andhra Pradesh cadre IAS, now Joint Secretary in the Urban Development Ministry, has been promoted as Additional Secretary in the same Ministry.
• PK Das, a 1982 batch IRS-IT officer, has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Environment Ministry. He is currently DG in the Election Commission of India.
• Arun Goel, a 1985 batch Punjab cadre IAS, has been appointed as Vice-Chairman of Delhi Development Authority (DDA). Currently, he is Joint Secretary in the Revenue Department.
• Arvind Mehta, a 1984 batch Himachal cadre IAS, now Joint Secretary in the Department of Commerce, has been promoted as Additional Secretary in the same Department- Commerce.
• Pushpa Subrahmanyam, a 1985 batch Telangana cadre IAS, has been appointed as Development Commissioner (Handicrafts) under the Ministry of Textiles. At present, he is Joint Secretary in the same Ministry.
• Ajay Kumar, a 1985 batch Kerala cadre IAS, now Joint Secretary in the Department of Electronics, has been promoted as Additional Secretary in the same Department.
• Kavita Gupta, a 1985 batch Maharashtra cadre IAS, has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Department of Atomic Energy. Currently, he is Additional Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT).
• Alka Panda, a 1983 batch Odisha cadre IAS, who is currently the additional DG, Bureau of Indian Standards, has been appointed as its Director General (DG).
• Ajoy Kumar, a 1984 batch Bihar cadre IAS, now Joint Secretary in the National Commission for Minorities, has been promoted as its Additional Secretary.
• Surendra Nath Tripathi, a 1985 batch Odisha cadre IAS, now Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises, has been promoted in the same Ministry.
• C Chandramouli, a 1985 batch Tamil Nadu cadre IAS, has been promoted to the rank of Additional Secretary. He is currently the Census Commissioner of India.
• Badri Narain Sharma, a 1985 batch Rajasthan cadre IAS, now Joint Secretary in the Power Ministry, has been promoted in the same Ministry.
• Krishan Ballabh Agarwal, a 1985 batch Jammu and Kashmir cadre IAS and Joint Secretary in the Department of Health, has been promoted as Additional Secretary in the same Department.
• Girish Chandra Murmu, a 1985 batch Gujarat cadre IAS, now Joint Secretary in the Expenditure Department, has been promoted as Additional Secretary in the same Department.
• Madhukar Gupta, a 1985 batch Rajasthan cadre IAS and Joint Secretary in the Department of Public Enterprises (DPE), has been promoted as Additional Secretary in the same Department.
• Ms Kiran Soni Gupta, a 1985 batch IAS officer of Rajasthan cadre, will get the rank of Additional Secretary. Currently, he is the Textile Commissioner.
• Anup Wadhawan, a 1985 batch Uttarakhand cadre IAS, now Joint Secretary in the Department of Financial Services, has been promoted as Additional Secretary in the same Department.
• Sudhir Tripathi, a 1985 batch IAS officer of Jharkhand cadre, has been given the rank of Additional Secretary. He is currently the Deputy Election Commissioner.
