Ravi-Shankar-PrasadNDA Government’s flagship programme ‘Digital India’ will be officially launched in Delhi on 1 July, said Communications and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad.

The minister applauded the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Nasscom and India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) which aims to make the ambitious vision of ‘Make in India’ and ‘Digital India’ a reality in IT & electronics manufacturing sectors.

“Digital India and Make in India are mission mode programmes of the Government. The industry should take more initiatives to make these programmes successful,” he said.

Electronics manufacturing is going to be the driving force for India’s growth. Nasscom and IESA should work together to achieve the desired results, Prasad said.

Highlighting that 21 electronics clusters already got principal approval last year, the minister said, “Foundation stones have been laid at Jabalpur and Bhopal.”
