e-PMS, an online Project Management System developed by the CCI (Cabinet Committee on Investment)’s Project Monitoring Group (PMG) for Odisha was launched for fast-tracking industrial and infrastructure projects with investments in the range of Rs 100 to Rs 1,000 crore. Chief Secretary J K Mohapatra has launched the system from the state secretariat.

Explaining the objective and utility of the system, Anil Swarup, Additional Secretary, Cabinet Secretariat, Government of India said the system was developed to track projects involving investment between Rs 100 crore and Rs 1,000 crore.

The system will automate the tracking of all stalled and ongoing projects in the context of bottlenecks. The system includes facilities for online submission of projects, editing and updating them, reviewing the projects and submission of details relating to bottlenecks, if any, he said.

The sub-group meetings of the CCI and decisions taken for removal of bottlenecks have also been integrated with it. The system provides assistance in preparation of various graphical reports and tracking of actual investment in case of the resolved projects. The system has been made investor-friendly and would automatically eliminate duplicate as well as inconsistent records, according to Swarup.

Launching the system Mohapatra said “The system will raise and revive investor confidence. Investors can raise their issues through this platform and get immediate response on resolution of their problems.” The progress of around 41 railway, National Highway, coal, power and steel projects were reviewed in the meeting and necessary decisions were taken for quick resolution of the issues. Swarup asked the departments concerned to make use of the e- PMS and post their issues regularly with all updates.

He also said a team of experts would soon visit the state to familiarise the user departments with the new online management system.
