Kerala police will install high resolution infrared camera systems in Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, and Kozhikode cities to ensure the safety of the travelling public especially women.

The Keltron will implement the project, to be partly funded by the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) and the Kerala Sustainable Urban Development Project (KSUDP). State Police Chief KS Balasubramanian is heading the project.

These night vision and upgraded camera will provide additional surveillance capacity to the state police. It will be monitored from central police control rooms in the three metro cities. In the capital, the new camera system, in its initial phase, will cover East Fort, Attakulangara, Manacaud, Thampanoor, Ayurveda College, Statue, LMS, PMG, Pattom, Kesavadasapuram, Ulloor and Medical College localities.
