India Post to launch online banking from next year

The Postal Department has decided to install 1,000 ATMs in the main Post Offices across the country for the purpose


New Delhi:  All post offices across the country would offer online banking facilities by May next year, Minister of State for Communication & Information Technology Killi Kruparani said.

Commissioning the Automatic Mail Processing Centre in Kolkata on Sunday, the Minister said the Postal Department has decided to install 1,000 ATMs in the main Post Offices across the country for the purpose.

She said that government has sanctioned Rs 4,700 crore for computerisation and modernisation of India Post and every Post Office in urban and rural areas will provide on-line-services to the citizens from next year.
