RBI wants more SCB branches

Rbi- logo-The Reserve Bank of India said domestic scheduled commercial banks (SCBs) will have to allocate at least 25 per cent of the total number of branches to be opened during a year to unbanked rural centres (Tier 5 & Tier 6 centres).


SCBs have opened, on average, about 20 per cent of the total number of new branches in Tier 5 & 6 centres in the last two years.
