In Bihar the 46 offices of commercial taxes department have been linked with the offices of deputy chief minister-cum-finance minister and the commissioner, commercial taxes. With this, Bihar has joined the category of states, which are making use of video-conferencing for commercial taxes administration and for initiating e-Governance in a revenue earning department.

Beltron, the nodal agency for IT, was entrusted with the responsibility to conceptualize and implement Rs 2.60 crore project as a component of Mission Mode Project.

Deputy Chief Minister, Sushil Kumar Modi, inaugurated the video-conferencing service and used the video conferencing solution to address the officials of the department working in various circles. He told them that henceforth all the works would be routed through the computer.

Sushil Kumar Modi said that from the current fiscal the filing of returns, registration, payment, auditing, reimbursement and other related services would be made online and no dealer would be required to make rounds of the offices of commercial taxes. He also told officials that now they don’t have to visit the secretariat to meet their departmental minister or principal secretary and could contact them through video-conferencing.

Modi said that he has suggested that video-conferencing as a productive and management tool should be used in the department to utilise the existing digital connectivity of the state government installed in VAT offices and the secretariat.
