According to reports, the UIDAI is hopeful of forwarding the Aadhaar letters by June-end to those who have enrolled for the cards. The authority had enrolled over 20 crore residents and despatched about 12.99 crore letters till the middle of May. Nearly seven crore cards are yet to be out.
The UIDAI claims that there was tremendous response during enrolments, and initially it faced some challenges in printing and despatching letters.

It has augmented Aadhaar letter-printing capacity and is printing about 15 lakh letters a day to clear the backlog at the earliest. UIDAI expects Aadhaar letters for all old cases will be printed by May-end.

The letter should reach those who have enrolled for the card before the end of June through Speed Post of India Post. The authority said it spends Rs 2.16 on each letter and another Rs 20 on the despatch of the card.
