Offices to be paperless in Karnataka (India)

The Karnataka Government will launch the 'paperless office' concept in its IT & BT department in cooperation with software giant, Microsoft. The concept will be introduced on a trial basis in the IT/BT Department and will be subsequently extended to other departments.

Karnataka Government will sign up an MoU with Microsoft to implement e-Governance projects. Microsoft is enabling the government to use the company's software. Earlier, Microsoft signed an MoU with Karnataka's Board for Information Technology Education Standards (BITES) to impart higher education to engineering students. According to the MoU, a seven-month training programme will be open to all final-year and pre-final-year engineering graduates (BE) of computer science and information science along with the final year MCA students. The programme, which starts from October 2007, will be open to all BITES' member colleges. Toppers from each BITES member colleges will get an opportunity to apply for Microsoft's Student Partner Programme, a club of students with passion for technology.
