Kochi, (India) Port implements software tool for e-Services

Kochi Cochin Port Trust is in the process of designing, developing, integrating and implementing an `integrated Port Information System' (`iPINS') together with associated support systems to improve the port's business processes and work practices.

The implementation of iPINS will help to monitor the performance in all areas of operations and management and provide improved levels of operations and efficient service delivery to its internal and external customers. The first phase will be development/supply, integration and implementation of application software and establishing IT infrastructure including data centre and data communication network, while the second phase includes hardware and system software in data centre including servers, storage and client side systems and peripherals. The integrated Port Information System intends to provide one gateway for all access to port e-services and information to port users. There will be links between the Port Trust and the private Container Terminal operator, for the exchange of data with the iPINS on a regular basis.
