Dubai Police uses mobile phone for issuing traffic fines

This is the first time; Dubai Police will use mobile phones for traffic control.Dubai Police’s Electronic Services Department has developed the programme to make it usable in camera enabled mobile phones.

Dubai Police will issue traffic fines by using mobile phones. Traffic policemen and other officers will take a still picture or a video of the offending vehicles. The system can also issue on-the-spot fines. The new system would be able to send information about the time of offence, the kind of offence and the amount of fine given to the traffic department. After checking the accuracy of the information, the system automatically adds the fine to the personal traffic file of the offender. The system also sends the information on the offence through SMS to their mobile phone or through an e-mail.

According to Colonel Ahmad Bin Dalmook, director of the department, traffic policemen can send the fine in two ways either by sending the offending vehicle’s picture directly or by taking picture with all information about vehicle like plat number, its code, its source and category.
