Indian Government is making One Stop Education portal, named SAKSHAT to be interactive on 26 January for students of India.
The President of India has already launched the portal on the October 30, 2006. The portal includes subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, English, Accountancy, Economics and Business Studies, which would be available in adequate numbers between 5 p.m to 11 p.m. Students would be able to access on http://www.sakshat.ac.in or http://www.sakshat.ignou.ac.in/sakshat/index.aspx or http://www.sakshat.gov.in by clicking on the column “Interact” and selecting the option “Talk to a Teacher”. The portal is open up on subject wise chat rooms. Students may enter into a chat room and would be able to find other information will provide students. Student can ask any query from their teachers through chat rooms. The portal already contains the four quadrant approach to learning which, includes written course material, animations, simulations, video lectures, related web links, question answers, confidence building measures and other details apart from a mechanism for maintaining the progress profile of learners on SAKSHAT. SAKSHAT has been designed and developed with the help, cooperation and participation of IGNOU, DU, IISc., IITs, NIC and other educational institutions. Content Advisory Committees (CACs) will look the content development of the portal of the respective subjects.
Soon, the other of feature of SAKSHAT would be introduced, named “Learn from Specific Professors”. SAKSHAT would also be branching out to various utilitarian packages such as data base of soil conservation, geographical information systems, robotics etc.
