Indian Government is planning to spend INR 300,000 crore by the end of the next year for setting one lakh kiosks in the rural sector.

According to Shakeel Ahmad, the Minister of state for communications and IT, the INR 300,000 crore will provide education, healthcare, agriculture, e-Governance and communication (email, voice mail) like services in rural area. Rural kiosks are most suitable medium for bridging urban-rural digital divide. Universal Services Obligation fund has provided wireless connectivity to approx 325 cities. India has demonstrated strong macroeconomic fundamentals with a low inflation rate and looking for 10 per cent growth rate in future.
