The International Conference on eGovernance Enhancement via Knowledge Management (EG2KM) expects to provide a framework for the development of a strategic software on knowledge management (KM) catered for the needs of the public sector.
The EG2KM is a project mooted by the government to enhance e-Governance through practical understanding and utilisation of KM methodology in the public sector via technology transfer and partnerships. It is co-funded by the Asia IT&C programme, European Commission (EU) and jointly promoted by Meteor Sdn Bhd, Open University United Kingdom and University of La Rochelle France. Meteor is a consortium owned by 11 public universities in Malaysia and the holding company of Open University Malaysia (OUM). The conference, besides providing strategic knowledge exchange platform on eGovernance/KM development in Europe and Asia, also aims to promote networking contacts and provide reference for interested government knowledge workers to implement KM infrastructure. The two-day event consists of business match-making, conference and workshops bringing together more than 200 participants from EU, Asia and Malaysia's key administrators in the areas of IT and training, human resources, and KM practitioners in various government departments, agencies and organisations.
