As an e-Paper on the Internet, the daily newspaper of India, 'The Hindu' will be formally launched in digital form, on September 10, 2006.

The newspaper will be available at http://epaper.thehindu.com. Initially three digital editions of the newspaper – Chennai, Hyderabad, and Delhi – will be available on net at 6 AM, Indian Standard Time (IST) every day. The access will be free for now but users will be required to register online. Each page will be seen as it appears in each of the three print editions. The advertisements will also be seen as they appear on the page. e-Paper has been developed for The Hindu by Nine Stars Information Technology and IBM using state-of-the-art technology and offering high resolution and versatile features. All the pages, articles, photographs and other images can be viewed in pdf and jpg format, and articles can also be read, as text. The Internet's powerful feature – search can also be used. One can look for something specific using the search engine or can also track stories in own areas of interest by setting own preferences for 'My News', a news tracking feature. There is also provision of clipping articles and photos for future reference and to email them to others.
