A draft vision statement has been launched by Malta Labour Party on Information and Communication Technology which will transform Malta into an 'intelligent island' with a knowledge-driven economy by developing and exploiting ICT skills to create new opportunities and apply creative solutions.
In government of Malta, it will act as a ‘catalyst’. The private sector in Malta will have every opportunity to play a pivotal role in the implementation of the policy document by being offered the necessary space to carry out its initiatives, particularly in the sector of e-Business development. It aims to set a direction for government departments, agencies and public entities by establishing eight major ICT strategic principles that recognise the capabilities of the citizens. The ICT strategic road map aims to transform the information society into a knowledge-based economy; promote e-Quality, e-Inclusion and e-Democracy; foster entrepreneurship for high-value jobs; and promote a global hub concept on a resilient ICT infrastructure, among others.
