Nortel eyes on SMB and e-Gov segments in India

Nortel Networks Corp., a Canada-based telecom solutions provider is focusing on small and medium businesses (SMB), e-Government activities and contact centres for further growth in India.

Nortel Networks Corp., a Canada-based telecom solutions provider is focusing on small and medium businesses (SMB), e-Government activities and contact centres for further growth in India.


The company would target SMBs and call centres. SMBs in India are expected to spend $7.7 billion in 2006 to beef up their infotech infrastructure and solutions. Nortel has plans to become a mainstream player in the SMB segments (high-end and mid-range) in India by this year-end. Nortel is also looking at developing of WiMAX systems that will let the company serve global markets. The company thinks this could go down well with the e-Governance players in India.
