The Danish government will start issuing new passports with digital photos and fingerprints starting on October 1. The decision to introduce fingerprints in passports was made by the European Union as part of their war against terrorism, human trafficking and trade, illegal immigration and other transnational crimes
The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has chosen Verizon Business for consolidating global communications over a single Internet Protocol (IP) network which would enable a secured and centralized communications infrastructure for its employees around the world and thus help reduce costs and administrative hassles. The ministry is going hi-tech with video conferencing which would help their employees to collaborate from wherever they are based.
From January 1, 2008, the Government of Denmark has made it mandatory for all local government bodies and associations of Danish regions to use open standards for software, according to an agreement between the Danish Government, the association of Danish regions and the local governments of Denmark. This decision has been taken by the Danish Government in order to improve efficiency and effectiveness in the public sector and ensure seamless task flow easily between various systems and organisations.
