Centralised IT Processing Centre in Bangalore
The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), formerly National Open School (NOS), with approximately 1.5 million learners on roll, has emerged as the largest open schooling organisation in the world. Initiated as a project in 1979 by the Central Board of Secondary Education, the Open Schooling programme has now taken shape as an independent system of education in India.
How do you see the usages of ICTs in teaching and learning processes?
Until and unless we as schools and as teachers have our role clear in ICTs, it may seem like we are just the facilitators, guides, and the outsiders. It is very important to understand how do we watch and how much we see from outside!
All schools need to be transparent and accountable. As a first step, Central Board of Secondary Education is in the process of developing guidelines for disclosure of relevant information by every school affiliated with it for the benefit of parents and the public at large. The schools will be encouraged to maintain their web-sites with certain core information.
