Maharashtra selects 5 Cloud Service Providers for data storage

Five Cloud service providers have been selected by the Government of Maharashtra who will store about 1.25 lakh documents and files produced every day by various State departments.

This empanelement is for three years. They include Amazon Web Services, Microsoft, Net Magic, Control-S and ESDS.

The State Government has already started its Cloud policy six months ago so that public can get access to Government data.

The Government is currently storing its data at 75 centralised data centres, but it was leading to high maintenance costs.

Storing the data on these five companies Cloud will not only save the money but will also create a $2-billion business opportunity for the data industry.

The providers will also offer services to handle the complex analytic queries and massively parallel query executions, so that data can be analysed in a better way.
