What is the mandate of Assistant Town Planner in Haridwar Roorkee Development Authority (HRDA)?

Assistant Town Planner (ATP) in HRDA guides, monitors and get the draft master Plan/Zonal Development plan prepared as per the provisions of relevant Act. ATP also appraises and provides technical advice and opinions on urban development projects and provides administrative and technical support to officials.

What kind of urban planning are you putting in for transformation of Haridwar?

We have prepared Zonal Development plan of Haridwar for area specific planning and for control and regularisation of development in Haridwar. We are working to improve physical infrastructure and socioeconomic infrastructure of the city. Apart from this, various projects like parks, beautification of Haridwar, Ghats redevelopment, housing, etc, are being planned for transforming Haridwar.

How can innovation and technology be leveraged for urban planning in today’s digital age?

Innovation and Technology can be a facilitator to improve operational aspects of cities but a citizen–centric approach is an indispensable requisite for Government.

The Government is taking initiatives like Digital India, Smart Cities Mission to improve quality of life by planning urban areas smartly. Today, all aspects of urban planning like smart traffic and parking, smart lighting, environmental monitoring, safety and security of the city, revenue generation, community empowerment, smart utilities need technology and innovation to make it in a better way. Technology is the first pillar of sustainable city. Please elaborate on the plans for Haridwar’s transformation for Maha Kumbh 2021.

We have proposed various projects like multi-level car parkings, parks and beautification of Haridwar, Renovation and Development of Ghats, etc, to strengthen the physical infrastructure of Haridwar. We are looking for best practises, innovation and technologies to organise this Maha Kumbh in a better way. Maha Kumbh 2021 will give impressive experiences to all pilgrims visiting Haridwar during that time.
