Telangana IAS officer’s son killed by robbers in Turkey

Shubham Goel, son of Shashank Goel, Principal Secretary (Labour), Government of Telangana, was shot dead in Turkey by a group of armed robbers.

According to media reports, Shubham was vacationing with a friend in Istanbul when they were were confronted by a group of armed robbers who demanded money. While Shubham’s friend Sudhanshu  handed over his money, Shubham refused, following which they were attacked and the latter was shot.

Shubham was a software engineer based in United States. He was brutally beaten before being shot by the robbers.

“While one of his friends parted with some dollars, Shubham resisted and refused to give money. That made the gangsters angry, and they thrashed him and shot him dead,” a family member told media.

Shubham’s last rites were performed in Roorkee in Uttarakhand. He had last visited India to attend a wedding on April 28. He and his friend decided to visit Istanbul before a scheduled return to California, where the deceased worked.

Shubham was a graduate from Amity University in Noida and was working as a Deputy Manager at the Federal Bank of America.
