Two wheeler maker Hero Moto Corp has decided to push itself into electric mobility sector aggressively through its in-house Research and Development facility in Jaipur.
The company has also decided to invest Rs 205 crore in Bengaluru-based startup Ather Energy. The company has also announced its eighth factory at Sri City (near Chennai) in Andhra Pradesh.
The Rs 1,600 crore plant will have a capacity of 1.8 million units and will start operations by December 2019.
In the first phase, Rs 800 crores will be invested in the plant. The foundation stone for this new project was laid by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.
The new facility will provide to atleast 12,000 people.
