Chandigarh to host National Tourism Conclave on Thursday

Chandigarh is all set to host National Tourism Conclave on Thursday bringing experts from government and private companies together to discuss and deliberate upon the finest practices of the Indian tourism sector, especially Punjab.

Organised by the Government of Punjab in association with Elets Technomedia Private Limited, a technology and media research company, the conclave is scheduled to be participated by Shivdular Singh Dhillon, CEO, Punjab Heritage Tourism Promotion Board and Director, Department of Tourism & Cultural Affairs, Government of Punjab to deliver the welcome address during the inaugural session.

Navjot Singh Sidhu, Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Government of Punjab, is scheduled to be the Chief Guest at the event, to be held at The Taj hotel.

Sharing the international perspective on tourism and his vision will be Albert Sole, Senior Private Sector Specialist, Trade & Competitiveness Unit, World Bank, India.

There will be a special address from S K Mishra, the Chairman, Indian Trust for Rural Heritage and Development (ITRHD).

The conclave will host several panel discussions and industry presentations on significant elements of tourism in India including Ease of Doing Business for Tourism Sector, Importance of Heritage Conservation for Tourism, Importance of Conservation for Tourism and Skilling Youth for Effective Tourism Ecosystem.

Policymakers from across India, working in the space of tourism, are going to be a part of this one-of-its-kind tourism conclave.

Dr Joram Beda, Secretary, Department of Tourism, Government of Arunachal Pradesh; Vikram Singh Gaur, Joint Secretary, NITI Aayog; Kumar Pushkar, Managing Director, Karnataka Tourism Development Corporation;  Amit Sharma, Commissioner, Amritsar Municipal Corporation Basant Garg, Commissioner, Jalandhar Municipal Corporation Avneet Kaur, Joint Commissioner, SAS Nagar Municipal Corporation; Amit Sharma, Regional Director, Survey and Land Records (ex-officio Settlement Officer), Government of Jammu and Kashmir are going to be part of the session which will discuss how tourism can be leveraged for the Smart Cities.

From industry, Bhavik Rathod, Head, UberEats India and Deepa Sahi, Founder & Promoter, Mayanagri One World Pvt Ltd will provide an insight into the growing Indian tourism industry.

The ongoing series of summits is a celebration of the spirit of Smart Cities Mission initiated by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government.
