‘Time has come to make the villages smart’

In the next 50 years, there will be 50-50 ratio of rural to urban population. To get the cities ready for this rural population influx, cities infrastructure needs to be build robust. There is also a need to make the villages smart. VP Badnore, Governor of Punjab & Chandigarh UT Administrator, shared such vision for Chandigarh recently at the Smart City Conclave Chandigarh.

He said that ‘in the perimeters of Smart Cities, Chandigarh has placed itself on a high pedestal. ‘

“People of Bristol in England has made their city green, ultimately making it the ‘Green Capital’ of European Union. We can make Chandigarh smart on the similar lines,” said Badnore.

People have to realise to keep the city beautiful smart as it is. Many people have migrated to Singapore to give their children better education, health facilities and environment. We should create such atmosphere here,” he added.

Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh in association with Elets Technomedia Pvt Ltd  hosted the Elets Smart City Conclave  on July 28-29 to explore its potential and tackle the challenges on the exciting road ahead. The summit saw deliberations from the key stakeholders of the urban development of India and abroad and will tried to found ways on how Chandigarh can become a smarter city.

Chandigarh city, world famous for its architecture, is nation’s first modern planned city designed by the Swiss French master architect Le Corbusier.

Keeping alive the spirit of Corbusier, the civic authorities have ensured the city is endowed with highest standards of cleanliness and living. Chandigarh basks in the glory of its rich past and beautiful present. With its ultra futuristic design and outlay the city is poised to be among the smartest in the world.
