Indian Railways has launched a three month long project ‘Swarn’ which will renovate India’s premium trains including Rajdhani and Shatabdi.

30 trains, including 15 Rajdhani and 15 Shatabdi will get a complete overhaul at a cost of Rs 25 crore.

With new on-board entertainment to trolley service for catering, new coach interiors, clean toilets, these trains will get a complete makeover.


The project will also strengthen the security systems in trains. This includes deputation of more Railway Protection Force personnel.

Rajdhani Express plying for Mumbai, Howrah, Patna, Ranchi and Bhubaneswar are among the 15 Rajdhani trains selected.


Shatabdi trains of Howrah-Puri, New Delhi-Chandigarh, New Delhi-Kanpur, Howrah-Ranchi, Anand Vihar-Kathgodam are among the 15 trains selected for the makeover.

A special emphasis will also be given to ensure punctuality of these trains.

Railways will also introduce new items in the menu of these trains. Staff of these trains will not only be provided with new uniforms, but will also be provided special training to serve people in a better and effective manner.
