Swachh Shakti Saptah to be launched from Gurugram

Chandigarh February 28: The Union Minister of Rural Development, Panchayati raj and Drinking Water and Sanitation Narendra Singh Tomar will launch ‘Swachh Shakti Saptah’ from Gurugram on March 1, 2017.
A spokesman of Haryana Development and Panchayats Department said that the state government has planned a series of activities to be undertaken at district, block and gram panchayat level during this week.
He said that about 1500 women sarpanches of Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) and all women sarpaches of Gurugram division would participate in this event. He said that while all Additional Deputy Commissioners of Gurugram Division have been asked to ensure participation of Women Sarpanches, a minimum of 200 from each district, in this event, all other Additional Deputy Commissioners have also been asked to depute five women champions in sanitation from each district in this event.
While referring to various activities to be undertaken in the State during this week long event, he said that while an extensive advertisement campaign on week-long Swacch Shakti Saptah would be launched at State and District level on March 1, 2017, film or documentary on women and swachhata would be screened at district, block and gram panchayat levels on March 2.
He said that district level essay writing, painting and drawing competitions on girl child and sanitation in government schools and colleges would be held on March 3, 2017 whereas, sports programmes for girls and women by involving school and colleges and Women and Child Development Department would be organized at district and gram panchayat level on March 4.
He said that apart from this, district level Panchayat Swachhata Rallies would be organized on March 5, exposure visits would be arranged for women sarpanches to Open Defecation Free (ODF) and ODF plus districts, blocks and gram panchayats on March 6. He said that on March 7, women sammelan would be organized at block level by involving women sarpanches, panches, anganwadi workers, ASHAs, Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANM) and Self Help Groups.
On concluding day of the Swacch Shakti Saptah on March 8, district level functions would be organized for honouring women sanitation champions by involving respective Member of Parliament, MLA, Chairman of Zila Parishad, Deputy Commissioner and Additional Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chief Executive Officer of, District Rural Development Agency, he added
