digitslThe Government of India has constituted a committee of officers to oversee 100 per cent digitisation of government-citizen transactions in order to weed out black money and corruption from public life.

The committee, to be headed by Amitabh Kant, CEO government think-tank NITI Aayog, will identify and operationalise in the earliest possible time frame user-friendly digital payment options in all sectors of the economy.

Besides identifying various digital payment systems appropriate to different sectors of the economy and making efforts to make them accessible and user-friendly, the committee will also identify bottlenecks affecting the access and utility of digital payment options.

The committee will engage Central ministries, regulators, state governments, district administration, local bodies, trade and industry associations to promote rapid adoption of digital payment systems.

The panel will also oversee implementation of measures to make the digital transactions between government and citizens cheaper than cash transaction.
