Aadhaar card

In a bid to provide hassle-free online governmental services to people, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has urged the citizenry to register or update their mobile number in Aadhaar.

Once the mobile number gets linked with Aadhaar, people can avail these services using an Aadhaar-based OTP (one-time password) identification in a convenient fashion.

According to UIDAI CEO Ajay Bhushan Pandey , it is important for people to complete this step of mobile registration in view of the various applications of public use such as Digi-locker, eSign, eNPS, e-Hospital, e-verification of Income Tax Return (ITR) etc, being rolled out by the government departments using Aadhaar as identifier.

The eSign application facilitates availing of government serves using digital signature, thus paving way for a cashless, presence-less and paperless transactions.  This facility is beneficial while applying for or updating the Pan card online without having to visit the centre to complete the formalities.

Likewise, the e-Hospital tool helps in fixing an appointment in any government hospital from the comfort of home and avoiding a queue. In the same manner, e-verification of Income Tax Return (ITR) helps in e-verifying the ITR using Aadhaar without the need of physical papers.
