16 Secys appointed at Centre; Aruna Sundararajan is new IT Secretary

The Government of India has made several Secretary-level appointments. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), the following officers have been appointed as Secretaries in various departments:

  • Aruna Sundararajan, Secretary, Ministry of Steel, has been appointed as Secretary, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology. Sundararajan, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of 1982 batch of Kerala cadre, will succeed Aruna Sharma.
  • Aruna Sharma, an IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre of 1982 batch, goes to the Ministry of Steel as its Secretary.
  • Bhanu Pratap Sharma, an IAS officer of Bihar cadre of 1981 batch, working as a Secretary, Department of Health & Family Welfare, in the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, has been appointed as Secretary, Department of Personnel & Training, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions. He will take the place of Sanjay Kothari, who has superannuated.
  • Smita Chugh, an IAS officer of 1980 batch of Jharkhand cadre, working as Member Secretary, Tariff Commission, Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion, in the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, will continue in the same position which has been upgraded to the level of Secretary (equivalent).
  • Rakesh Srivastava, an IAS officer of 1981 batch of Rajasthan cadre, has been appointed as Secretary, National Commission for Backward Classes replacing A. K. Mangotra.
  • Amarjit Singh, an IAS officer of Gujarat cadre of 1982 batch, has moved from being a Special Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation, to becoming an Officer on Special Duty in the Ministry of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation, with immediate effect. The officer would take over as Secretary in the ministry on superannuation of the present incumbent, Shashi Shekhar.
  • Dinesh Singh, an IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre of 1982 batch, working as a Special Secretary in the Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty in the Department of Land Resources in the Ministry of Rural Development, with immediate effect. The officer will take over as Secretary of the department on superannuation of the present incumbent V.S.Madan.
  • Amarendra Kumar Dubey, an IAS officer of Kerala cadre of 1982 batch, working as a Special Secretary in the Ministry of Coal has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty in the Department of Youth Affairs in the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, with immediate effect. He will take over as Secretary in the department on superannuation of the present incumbent, Rajiv Gupta.
  • Latha Krishna Rao, an IAS officer of Karnataka cadre of 1982 batch, has been appointed as Secretary, Department of Social Justice & Empowerment in the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, thus replacing Anita Agnihotri, on her superannuation.
  • Sathiavathy, an IAS officer of 1982 batch of Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram and Union Territories (AGMUT), working as Director General, Civil Aviation, Ministry of Civil Aviation, has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty in the Ministry of Labour & Employment with immediate effect. The officer will take over as Secretary of the ministry on superannuation of the present incumbent Shankar Agarwal.
  • Rajeev Kapoor, an IAS officer of 1983 batch of Uttar Pradesh cadre, has been upgraded to the level of Secretary in his capacity of Director, Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie.
  • Amarjeet Sinha, an IAS officer of 1983 batch of Bihar cadre, has been appointed as Secretary, Department of Rural Development in the Ministry of Rural Development, from being an Additional Secretary of the department. Sinha will replace J. K. Mohapatra on his superannuation.
  • K. Mishra, an IAS officer of 1983 batch of Bihar cadre, working as Additional Secretary, Department of Health & Family Welfare in the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, will take the position of Secretary of the department. He will replace the present incumbent B.P. Sharma.
  • P. Sharma, an IAS officer of 1981 batch of Bihar cadre, working as a Secretary, Department of Health & Family Welfare in the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, has been shifted in the same capacity to the Department of Personnel & Training.
  • K. Prasad, an IAS officer of 1983 batch of Tamil Nadu cadre, has been designated as Secretary, National Commission for Denotified, Nomadic & Semi-nomadic Tribes from being an Additional Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs. Prasad will replace H.K. Dash for a period of two years.
  • S. Kang, an IAS officer of 1983 batch of Punjab cadre, has moved from his current capacity of being an Additional Secretary, Department of Health & Family Welfare in the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, to become Secretary and Director General, National AIDS Control Organization.
