Kolhapur hospitals to have online system for easy administration

e-system in Kolhapur hospitalsUnder the Kolhapur Municipal Corporation’s (KMC) “smart governance projects”, the hospitals and dispensaries of the city will be connected through an online server to rectify the discrepancies at the administration level.

Through this system, information such as number of patients monitored, details of the patients, treatment given, availability of the staff and medicine stock will be digitally available. This is the one of the initiatives by the corporation which has also come up with projects such as e-office and digitisation of records.

This concept of governance with respect to the healthcare sector was considered after reviewing the e-system developed by the hospitals falling under the Pimpri-Chinchwad municipal corporation (PCMC), particularly in the Yashawantrao Chavan Hospital at Pimpri.

The KMC makes an annual investment of 8 crores to manage the two large hospitals and seven dispensaries in the city which saw a number of administrative discrepancies being highlighted by the corporators or civic activists in the recent past.  To rectify the situation, KMC proposed the concept in this year’s annual budget. The higher authorities will look into some more research to finalise this model and related financial requirements.
