Haryana calls out for agencies to skill urban youth under NULM

haryana-govtThe Haryana Government has invited Request for Proposal (RFP) from interested agencies for imparting training under Employment Through Skill Training & Placement (EST&P) component of the Nation Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM).

According to a notice appearing in some dailies recently, such agencies can be training institutions, universities or non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

The notice, issued by the office of the Mission Director – State Urban Development Authority, Haryana (SUDA,H), calls for both technical and financial proposals for engaging agencies for skilling the urban youth through training and placing them suitably for gainful employment.

The deadline for submission of RFPs is 5th of July 2016.

The Central Government announced new urban poverty alleviation scheme NULM replacing the previous Swarna Jayanti Shahari Rozgar Yojana (SJSRY) with the objective to reduce poverty and vulnerability of the urban poor households by enabling them to access gainful self-employment and skilled wage employment opportunities.

The programme envisions an appreciable improvement in their livelihoods on a sustainable basis, through building strong grassroots level institutions of the poor. The mission also aims at providing shelter equipped with essential services to the urban homeless in a phased manner.

The NULM is funded by the Government of India and state government concerned in the ratio of 75:25.
