Soumen Mitra, the 1988-batch IPS officer has taken over as the new Police Commissioner of Kolkata replacing Rajeev Kumar. Kumar, an IPS officer of the 1989-batch, has been shifted to the Anti-Corruption Branch in the state police in the capacity of ADG.
“It’s a tough situation. We will ensure the peaceful conduction the elections in the city,” Mitra said, soon after assuming the chair at Lalbazar Police Headquarters in Kolkata.
