S M Vijayanand appointed new Chief Secretary of Kerala

SM VijayanandS M Vijayanand, a 1981 batch IAS officer of Kerala cadre, has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary of Kerala. On April 30, he will replace Pradeep Kumar Mohanty, a 1980 batch IAS officer of the same cadre, who took over on March 1 – two months ahead of his scheduled retirement, ie. April 30.

Earlier, Vijayanand has served in the Government of India as Secretary, Department of Panchayati Raj. The ACC had approved his premature repatriation in March 2016 which will come into effect on April 24.
