Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid foundation stone of two elevated Metro corridors in Mumbai– Dahisar-D N Nagar and Dahisar-Andheri (east) route.
The Prime Minister also laid foundation stone of the Grand Memorial of Bharat Ratna Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar
“I am very elated to lay the foundation stone for the two Metro corridors as it was Dr. Ambedkar who, while analysing Indian Railways, had observed that the rail based transport can bring about social integration. Metro network is necessary for growing urban areas. While many may look at urban growth as a problem, I look at it as an opportunity”, said Modi further.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has been appointed as a special planning authority for the Grand Memorial of Bharat Ratna Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar on 12 acres of Indu Mill Land which will include various facilities such as Assembly Hall, Auditorium, Museum, Library, Landscape Gardens, Public Square, Souvenir Shops, Eateries, Administrative Offices, Staff Quarters, Parking Area etc.
