J S Deepak, a 1982 batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, has been appointed as the new Secretary in the Department of Electronics & Information Technology, Ministry of Communications & Information Technology. Currently, he is serving as the Additional Secretary, Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry.

Deepak will join in place of Ram Sewak Sharma, IAS (JH:1978), consequent to his appointment as the Chairperson, TRAI, , according to a press statement issued by the Government.

Apart from him, the Government also reshuffled 15 other senior IAS officials. They are:

• Shaktikanta Das, IAS (TN:1980), currently Secretary in the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, has been appointed as Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance. He will replace Rajiv Mehrishi, IAS (RJ:1978) on his superannuation on 31.08.2015.

• Hasmukh Adhia, IAS (GJ:1981), currently Secretary in the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, has been appointed as Secretary, Departmentt of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, replacing Shaktikanta Das, IAS (TN:1980) on his relinquishing the charge of the post.

• Ms Anjuly Chib Duggal, IAS (PB:1981), currently Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, has been appointed as Secretary, Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance. She will replace Hasmukh Adhia, IAS (GJ:1981) on his relinquishing the charge of the post.

• Tapan Ray, IAS (GJ:1982), currently Additional Secretary, Department of Electronics and Information Technology, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, has been appointed as Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs. He will replace Anjuly Chib Duggal, IAS (PB:1981) on her relinquishing the charge of the post.

• Vijay Shankar Madan, IAS (UT: 1981), currently Director General and Mission Director, Unique Identification Authority of India, has been appointed as Secretary, Department of Land Resources, Ministry of Rural Development. He will replace Vandana Kumari Jena, IAS (OR:1979) consequent on her superannuation on 31.07.2015.

• Vinod Zutshi, IAS (RJ:1982), currently Deputy Election Commissioner, Election Commission of India, has been appointed as Secretary, Ministry of Tourism. He will replace Lalit K Panwar, IAS (RJ:1979) consequent on his superannuation on 31.07.2015.

• Sunil Arora, IAS (RJ:1980), currently Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, has been appointed as Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. He will replace Bimal Julka, IAS (MP:1979) consequent on his superannuation on 31.08.2015.

• Rohit Nandan, IAS (UP:1982), currently Chairman and Managing Director, Air India, has been appointed as Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. He will replace Sunil Arora, IAS (RJ:1980) on his relinquishing the charge of the post.

• Ajit M Sharan, IAS (HY:1979), currently Secretary, Department of Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, has been appointed in AYUSH vice Nilanjan Sanyal, IAS (OR:1979) consequent on his superannuation on 31.08.2015.

• Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, IAS (UT:1980), currently Secretary, Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs, has been appointed as Secretary, Coordination and Public Grievances, Cabinet Secretariat. He will replace Gauri Kumar, IAS (GJ:1979) consequent on her superannuation on 31.08.2015.

• Rajiv Yadav, IAS (AM:1981), currently Special Secretary and Financial Advisor, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, has been appointed as Secretary, Department of Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. He will replace Ajit M Sharan, IAS (HY:1979) on his relinquishing the charge of the post.

• Shri Girish Shankar, IAS (BH:1982), currently Additional Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, has been appointed as Secretary, Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs. He will replace Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, IAS (UT:1980) on his relinquishing the charge of the post.

• Pravir Kumar, IAS (UP:1982), currently Director General of Foreign Trade under Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has been appointed as Secretary, Inter-State Council Secretariat. He will replace Sunil Soni, IAS (MH:1981).

• Shri Amarendra Sinha, IAS (UK:1981), currently Development Commissioner, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, has been appointed as Secretary, National Commission of Minorities. He will replace Rajiv Takru, IAS (GJ:1979) on his superannuation on 30.09.2015.

• Shri Raghav Chandra, IAS (MP:1982), currently Additional Secretary and Financial Advisor, Department of Agriculture, Cooperation and Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, has been appointed as Chairman, National Highways Authority of India under Ministry of Road Transport and Highways replacing R P Singh.
