The step was taken after Rupshikha Borah’s appointment faced last minutes hurdles. However, the Chief Minister of Assam, Tarun Gogoi has drew Prime Minister’s attention and urged to re-consider the issues and hurdles involved.

If the last minute hurdle had not been there, Rupshikha Saikia Borah would have taken this charge. The post fell vacant after S K Srivastava, the incumbent CMD, OIL, superannuated on June 30. Borah is Director- Finance, OIL and was duly selected by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) for CMD on February 10 this year. She is the first ever lady functional Director in the Board of OIL.
