PM to review National Optical Fibre Network project

280138-modiPrime Minister Narendra Modi will review the National Optical Fibre Network (NOFN)  project, which aims to connect 2.5 lakh gram panchayats by the end of 2016.

The meeting, to be presided over by the Prime Minister, will be attended by Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and other ministry officials to discuss the report submitted by former IT Secretary J Satyanarayana-led committee to fast-track the broadband project.

The committee has proposed to rename the project as BharatNet.
