Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the appointment of Pradeep Kumar Sinha, a 1977 batch IAS officer, as the next Cabinet Secretary, with effect from June 13. Sinha belongs to the Uttar Pradesh cadre and is currently serving as Secretary in the Ministry of Power.
Earlier, he had worked in the Ministry of Shipping as Secretary and held several other important positions in the Union Government and the State of Uttar Pradesh.
In his new stint, he will be succeeding Ajit Seth. The Prime Minister has also approved that Sinha might further be appointed as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Cabinet Secretariat with effect from the date of assumption of charge, till June 12, 2015.
